Flower Power

Isn't amazing how looking at the flowers and taking time to wonder amongst mother nature is quite uplifting! She's quite some gal!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are looking forward to week ahead.

Sunny September Sundays

I have just had the pleasure in indulging in the simple pleasures of life and enjoying the fruits of nature!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and the sun was shining down on you as it was us.
Murray and I decided to go for a stroll up the glen in search of Blackberries or Brambles as Murray prefers to call them! He thinks it sounds better.
So off we plodded with our small trug, perfect berry picking size!

On the way we saw some cows, some sheep which looked like cows according to Sir, and a red squirrel! I really wish I had taken my camera with me on the walk. But alas, I was all for enjoying the moment instead of trying to record every second!

We found plenty berries! It was quite a quest, in fact, as on numerous occasions I found myself tangled up in the hedgerow, fighting to get back out. And those darned nettles!!! Why do Blackberries grow right in amongst them?!

At the time I wasn't quite sure what we were going to make our harvest into when we returned home but a quick stop on our way home at Grannie Frost's cottage provided fruitful ( pardon the pun!)

She has a small orchard consisting of a plum and an apple tree, so technically not an orchard, merely a few fruit trees. Hardly enough to start a production of 'ye old scrumpy', but more than enough to add to our blackberries and make into a yummy Blackberry and Apple crumble!

So the wonderers returned, pleased with their finds and keen to get cracking in the kitchen.
Murray was uber keen to help as always! He's my right hand man. So we peeled and cut the apples, washed the blackberries and popped them in the pan with some sugar to stew for a while.

Meanwhile, Murray got on with making a mess..... sorry, the crumble topping.....

And after about half an hour in the over after assembling all the key components, this is what we had the pleasure of devouring! Helped along by some yummy custard.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

FRESH STARTS

Wow. What a weekend (well 4 days to be precise!) we've had! Murray and I have just moved from our first floor victorian flat into THE most gorgeous cottage. Its still in the village, of Killin, just at the other end. The West End as we like to call it!

The past few years have been somewhat tumultuous. But hopefully now the emotional storms have passed and its time to live in the calmness. This new home of ours certainly is instills a sense of calm and peace.

I can't wait to share my new home with you over the next couple of weeks.
But let me share with you firstly, the image above.

It is the view I see everytime I open the door to my new bedroom or 'Sanctuary' as I now like to call it! Murray and I are actually sharing this amazing place we now call home with my sister. And she was kind enough to have the weekend away while we moved in ( VERY SENSIBLE! ). And these beautiful flowers were brought home to us by her!

Its not my birthday till Thursday but the house is already filled with flowers!
Flowers, flowers oh how I do love flowers!

'When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other.' - Chinese Proverb

'Bread feeds the body, indeed, but flowers feed the soul'. - The Koran

So here's to fresh starts!
